Mount Arlington, NJ (Distributer) — June 25, 2010 — Daniel J. Haurey, founder and president of Exigent Technologies was featured as the guest speaker at the commencement ceremony for the Essex County Vocational Technical School, North 13th Street campus. The event was held at St. Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey on June 22nd. 2010. The New Jersey IT services company founder was chosen by the senior class advisers and administration based on his entrepreneurial pursuits and philanthropic endeavors.

“Daniel Haurey is a tremendous example of one of Essex County Vocational Technical’s many success stories and, on behalf of the school community, I am grateful and proud to be accepting his contribution to student scholarships to help other students on their path to future success,” said Superintendent Michael A. Pennella, Ph.D.

After an introduction by Vice Principal, Chetram Singh, Haurey recounted the challenges of his childhood and how he eventually gained solid footing with the help and support of key people such as teachers and guidance counselors in high school. “Vo-Tech surrounded me with a very special group of educators that were not only well-equipped to deal with a very troubled and confused teen, but also had the compassion and resolve to guide me through what was clearly one of the most important and defining times of my life” said Haurey. During the speech Haurey recalled how certain teachers and staff members realized his potential and guided him accordingly.

The speech culminated with Haurey calling the two recipients of scholarship awards bearing his name to the stage. Consideration for the awards was given to students that, like Haurey, had overcome obstacles in the learning process. Other criteria included the pursuit of higher education in a computer-related field.

“We are extremely grateful for Mr. Haurey’s contribution to our students. He models giving back to the community. His actions have ignited a tradition that we hope the recipients and other graduates will follow as they continue to work toward greatness,” said Principal Patricia Clark-Jeter.

In regards to the scholarship awards, Haurey added, “This was a very rewarding experience for me and something that I would definitely like to do again. There’s something very special about Vo-Tech. It’s extremely gratifying to see that the magic is still happening there. Actually, it’s better than ever.”
