A storage area network (SAN) is a dedicated network that provides access to consolidated storage. SANs are primarily used to make storage devices, such as disk arrays and tape libraries accessible to servers so that the devices appear to be locally attached devices to the operating system.

Storage area networks have been a fixture in data centers and large corporations for quite some time. However, recent research shows that small businesses are stepping up their investments in SAN technologies at an ever increasing pace. Fortunately for our New Jersey and New York based small business clients, while adoption rates of SANs have escalated, the costs and complexities have plummeted.
